I have been organizing weddings at Tequila Jalisco for more than 8 years now and, as a wedding planner, I always recommend this location as wonderful place to have a wedding.

Tequila, a town with tradition

Tequila is a place full of traditions and customs. For example, you can every day listen to the Santiago Apostol church bells ringing right on time: 8 o'clock in the morning, 8 o'clock in the evening. And you will see that, at the same time, Tequila's inhabitants turn to face the church and cross themselves. The first ringing of the bell signals that a blessing is going to be given, the second one is the blessing itself, and the third one is given so people know they can continue their way after having been blessed. This kind of traditions are one of the reasons why Tequila was selected as a magical town.

Tequila, Magical Town

It was in the year 2003 that Tequila was recognized as a Magical Town (Pueblo Mágico). The Mexican Tourism Secretariat defines Magical Towns as sites that throughout time and facing modernity, have kept their value and historic cultural heritage intact, which they show in different ways by means of their irreplaceable tangible and intangible heritage.

Tequila, a town with an agave landscape

Tequila was recognized as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2006 under the designation: Agave Landscape and Ancient Industrial Facilities of Tequila. This is an amazing and unique scenario for your photography session!

The church for a religious ceremony in Tequila

The Santiago Apostol Church is a parochial church that dates back to the 17th Century. In its atrium we can see the statue of Saint Toribio Romo. He was a Cristero martyr beatified by pope John Paul II. The church has a long corridor in which you'll have a chance to dazzle your guests while you approach the great love of your life, to join him in marriage forever.

Accommodations in Tequila

Tequila has several different categories of hotels to match the taste and budget of each of your guests. From simple "small town" traditional hotels to boutique hotels or special category resorts. These days, there is even a hotel that has rooms that resemble huge barrels and is located in the middle of an agave landscape.

Handicrafts in Tequila

Tequila has wonderful artisan hands that can make from obsidian figurines (a rock that abounds in the region) to spectacular creations made with beads decoration by Huichol hands. Additionally, there is a wide variety of products made with the leftovers of agave leaves: necklaces, key rings, headbands and agave paper sheets. It will be easy to find the perfect souvenir for your guests.

Tours in Tequila

One of the main attractions is the wide range of distilleries that your guests can visit if they want learn about the different production processes of our national drink, Tequila. Without a doubt, such a tour would be a very pleasant and fun experience! Plus, not only you'll get to know about tequila's production processes but you will also be able to taste the different kinds of tequilas there are. We, at Casa Sauza, organize these tours for you and your guests.

Gastronomy in Tequila

Although it is true that Mexican cuisine is known for its delights, in Tequila you can try special dishes made with pre-Hispanic ingredients and with the region's products, such as agave honey. You won't be able to resist a delicious steak topped with a 10 chilies and agave honey sauce. Or how about some skewers mounted on agave leaves? Now imagine having these dishes as main dish at your wedding banquet.

Tequila's perfect weather

Since tequila is in a valley, it has a very good weather most of the year. You will hardly ever find an extremely cold weather. What you can find most of the year is a warm, yet pleasant, weather.

If you are having your wedding during the evening, your guests won't feel either too hot or too cold. This is, without a doubt, one big plus if you want to have an outdoor wedding.

Getting to Tequila

To get to Tequila you must first arrive to Guadalajara City, to which you can arrive easily, both by land or by airplane . You would then have to take either a taxi, bus, or rental car from Guadalajara to Tequila. This ride lasts for about an hour. Both the free highway as well as the toll highway are very safe.
