Ideas to Give your Business Meetings a Different Touch

It's always my pleasure to greet you and be able to give you ideas on how to plan your events differently. In this blog we'll talk about making your business meetings less monotonous. We can't deny that whenever we go to a business meeting, we know we'll be facing long sessions of tiring content that might even end up being very stressful.

It's time to give traditional meetings a twist by adding an element of surprise so that when your collaborators or colleagues are invited, they come to your event with a great attitude, knowing that you are going to surprise them with something new, since you always try to do something new or different to them.

I suggest you try to do some of the activities below. They may help you organizing better meetings and stop them from being boring and tiring.

Fun Activities for Business Meetings

Body Stretching

Ask them to stretch their bodies for 1 or 2 minutes. Have them:

• Move their hands, feet, neck...
• Stretch their arms as much as possible!

Doing this can be so unwinding! They'll feel relaxed and ready to start! Which is why I suggest you always do this before a meeting begins; it'll help them participate more and their ideas will flow better. Plus, being so relaxed they might not be too defensive.

Ice Breaking Activities

Always try to break the ice first. You can organize a short activity, such as choosing a letter and having everyone say a word with that starts with that letter. Whoever loses must serve the first round of coffees to everyone. The idea is to make a quick game that will help them "wake up" and keep them alert.

Aromatherapy

Before everyone enters the room, you can build a better ambiance by using fresh, relaxing scents in order to keep the harmony of the room. Believe it or not, this trend is growing. You can make people's energy change and neutralize it using their sense of smell. Citrus, mint and lavender scents are highly recommended. You will see that when everyone comes into the room, they will notice it and be positive about it.

Have a Little Something for Them

Try to have a little gift for them, the smallest things can make a bug difference: A chocolate, a mint, a fruit, whatever you want! A pen, a notebook ... everything makes a difference!

Get Everyone In-Sync

Help your whole team be on the same page. We all have a lot to do, but meetings are necessary. Now, we must try to:

• Keep them as short as possible
• Avoid unnecessary or non-related interruptions
• Have everyone bring their interventions/proposals ready

If everyone is well prepared for the meeting and tries to keep things flowing, it'll all go faster. They'll be able to go back to their own activities sooner.

Never Expose a Colleague's Mistake

Never seek to expose anyone, it makes people defensive and it becomes a frustrating event for everyone. Remember that you want people to enjoy attending these meetings with a positive attitude, do not attack them!

A Different Ending

At least once a month, plan a different ending for your meetings. This will motivate your team. Maybe a different person can organize this every time, so everyone participates.

You can offer for example a small cocktail with sandwiches, an short mixology class, or different kinds of tastings:

• Coffee
• Wine
• Tequila
• Chocolates
