At Casa Sauza, we produce not only the best tequila in the world but also offer the BEST TEQUILA TOURS in Jalisco. Our tours depart from La Quinta Sauza, our visitor center, located in a historic Hacienda dating back to 1836. From here, we begin the tours recognized as the finest in this Mexican destination.
Here, you can find everything from an introductory tour of our distillery to a tour that includes a visit to the botanical garden of Casa Sauza. Our tours depart from La Quinta Sauza, which is located in the center of Tequila, Jalisco. Here, our guides take our visitors on a unique experience on board our wooden trolleys, which resemble a train. It will all feel like traveling back in time through this Magical Town, Tequila, until we finally reach the Botanical Garden of Casa Sauza.
At the botanical garden, you'll discover all the different varieties of agave that exist in Mexico and even get the opportunity to plant one yourself. Our jimador will welcome you to the agave field, where he will demonstrate how he uses his COA, a specialized tool essential for harvesting agave crops used in tequila production. He will show you firsthand how he performs the JIMA, a practice passed down through generations. The word JIMA comes from Nahuatl, meaning "to cut or shave," referring specifically to the removal of agave leaves.
After completing the JIMA demonstration and explaining our entire field process, we board the trolley again and return to Tequila. On the way back, we'll take a 10-minute drive around this Magical Town, narrating the fascinating story of Tequila and its volcano, which gives its name to our iconic Mexican beverage: tequila.
Next, we arrive at our tequila distillery, La Perseverancia, established in 1873, where we produce the purest tequila in the world. Here, you'll learn about the tradition and spirit of Casa Sauza, where we craft every drop of tequila innovatively and with the highest possible quality.
Before starting the tour, we will provide you with the necessary equipment and explain essential safety measures to follow, ensuring your safety amidst the historical and modern features of our distillery.
Our first checkpoint is La Constancia, our tequila resting cellar, which houses 10,200 American white oak barrels imported from Kentucky and Illinois. Each barrel contains up to 200 liters of tequila. Here, you can see, smell, and feel the wood and experience firsthand the tequila aging within these barrels.
